Great info on Twitter! I just started using it on a more regular basis and my web traffic has definitely improved. The trick is to to try to follow people in your line of business, or who would be interested in your services... I find that helps to target my web traffic a bit better as well!

Thanks for the info~

AP,
Yes you can do both. You should actually do both. The one rule when it comes to social networking is to keep it low key and not only promote your business. You should keep it personalable and occasionally promote.

For example if you are going to tweet 3x per day:
Post 1. Going to the grocery store to make some chicken soup.
Post 2. doing some administrative tasks for a client.
Post 3. Check out my new services at yourwebsite.com etc.

No more than 1 tweet a day unless you are tweeting 10x per day then you can advertise your business several time.

If you only tweet once a day or a few times a week (which is not recommended) then do not advertise your business everyday or time you post, do it occasionally. To be honest you would be wasting your time with twitter if you do not do it on a daily basis. Sometimes you miss a day because you are busy or something comes up and that is fine. That's what tweetlater and ping.fm is for. I will discuss that in my next blog post. I hope I was helpful.

I'm always curious on how people decide to follow me.
I'm going to take your advice and add my twitter feed to my email signature link, but then I have to be careful with what I say since It's about being business professional, yet personable. Can you do both without alienating your followers?

AP,

The best way to advertise your twitter id is to advertise it as much as possible.

Some example:
Add it to your signature both email and forums

Add it to your website

Follow twitterers and chances are most or half of them will follow you.

If you have a facebook profile: There is a twitter application on Facebook so ensure that you have it installed on your profile

Add all your networking profile links in your newsletters

I hope this helped!! :)

I like using Twitter because its fast and simple. And yes, I get traffic because I've developed a following.

What would be the best way to advertise your twitter id so that you can get more people to follow you?
